Travis Cormier | CHRONICLE
La Voix finalist Travis Cormier finally releases his debut CD Dollars and Hearts. Right from the get go, the listener might wonder if it is 2018 or 1988. Never one to shy away from his influences, namely Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams and Aerosmith, this album could have been released 3 decades ago. Having opened for his idol Bon Jovi earlier this year, it was a dream come true for Cormier to record with famed Canadian producer Bob Rock on his debut album.
And this kind of music doesn’t feel forced on Cormier’s side, but it is more natural than anything. With a solid dose of rock and ballads, this first foray into recording is a solid guilty pleasure. With the help of seasoned musicians on board (Pat Stewart on drums) and as well as established artists (former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and Aerosmith Steven Tyler’s writing partner Marti Frederikson are among the co-writers), Dollars and Hearts is pure rock and roll. What’s more, the album was recorded in Bryan Adams`s studio in Vancouver.
With a voice clearly made to rock and roll, newcomer Travis Cormier has put out a solid album that has that mainstream hard-rock sound that will appeal to fans of rock, old and new. It is a return to feel good rock music with a modern twist. With a tour plan later this year and a new single shipping to radio this month, Travis Cormier is certainly one to watch in the coming year!
